what we keep, why we keep it, and what gets you shown the door.
cookies
One cookie. dud_session — a random token tied to your account, set when you log
in, cleared when you log out. It is HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and Secure in production. It expires after thirty days of inactivity.
No analytics. No third-party trackers. No ads.
what we store
- account — email, hashed passphrase, screen name, your face template and any custom avatars you've drawn, the date you joined.
- messages — chat lines you send to a room, kept for scrollback.
- crow messages — the async letters you send and receive, kept until you delete them.
- sessions — your IP and user-agent string, attached to each session, used for rate limiting and to show you which devices are signed in.
- moderation — reports, warnings, and bans against your account, with the reason and the warden who acted.
We do not sell any of this. We do not share any of this.
We send you mail for three reasons: to verify your address at signup, to let you reset your passphrase, and — if you opt in — to ping you when a crow arrives in your rookery. Nothing else. No newsletters, no announcements, no "we miss you" campaigns.
your data, your call
Email admin@parallaxandpixel.com from the address on your account and we will:
- send you everything we have on you, in a plain text dump, within seven days.
- delete your account and your crows on request. messages you sent in public rooms remain in scrollback under your screen name unless you also ask for those to be redacted.
conduct
This is a small, curated place. Wardens read what gets reported and act with judgment, not with a checklist. The short version of what gets you banned:
- harassment, slurs, or threats against another visitor.
- posting another person's private information.
- spam, scams, or attempts to recruit for outside platforms.
- sharing material that is illegal.
- circumventing a ban with a new invite or a new account.
Bans come with a reason. If you think a warden got it wrong, the same email above reaches the admins.
security
Found a hole? Email admin@parallaxandpixel.com. We will not pursue good-faith reports.
changes
If we change any of this, we will say so on the landing page for at least two weeks before the change takes effect. The current version of this page was last revised on 2026-05-04.
